DOHA, Qatar – Day Two of the IAAF World Track and Field Championships had the first two finals on the track of Khalifa International Stadium: the women’s 10,000 meters and the men’s 100 meters.

For the Oregonian, Alex Castle wrote about Nike Oregon Project runner Sifan Hassan’s exciting win in the 10,000, as well as Bowerman Track Club’s Marielle Hall and her 30-second personal best.

He also spoke to former Duck sprinter English Gardner about her return from numerous injuries, Oregon alum Raevyn Rogers and Cole Walsh about qualifying for the final in their respective events, and Nike Oregon Project teammates Donavan Brazier and Clayton Murphy advancing in the 800-meters.

Brooklynn Loiselle focused on the day’s marquee event, the men’s 100 meters, for DyeStat. She caught up with gold medalist Christian Coleman to discuss the magnitude of his victory, whether he’s interested in the void left by Usain Bolt and the missed drug test controversy. She additionally covered DeAnna Price, the first American gold medalist in the women’s hammer throw on the global stage, and the women’s 10,000 meters.

Brooklynn went into more detail about Price’s historic win in the women’s hammer throw for our own SOJC Track website.

Nate Mann covered Oregon alumni English Gardner, Raevyn Rogers and Cole Walsh, as well as Nike Oregon Project’s Brazier and Murphy in the 800 meters, for the Register-Guard. And he told more of Cole Walsh’s story for our website.
